Hi, I’m Jacalin, the artist and woodturner behind PurpleRoo!

​I started woodturning a few years ago with a class at Mann Tool in West Columbia, SC. The moment I made my very first bowl, I was hooked. Woodturning quickly turned into my favorite art form, leading me to create more pieces and eventually launch PurpleRoo, a name inspired by my favorite color and my Great Pyrenees, Roo.

​Working primarily with locally sourced South Carolina wood, I love creating pieces that reveal the wood's natural beauty. From hand-carved owls and bolo ties to functional art, every piece is unique.
